Melanie graduated from Bradley University with a degree in business and finance and received her master’s degree in journalism with political and economic emphasis from Boston University. While studying for her master’s degree, Melanie worked as a Capitol Hill correspondent in Washington, DC, where she covered stories from the Pentagon, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the White House. Melanie was the contributing Washington correspondent for the New Bedford Standard-Times and the Providence Journal. Prior to her work in Washington, she was a contributing writer for American Lawyer Media, where she focused specifically on Massachusetts and Rhode Island policies.

Melanie teaches social media seminars including ‘Effective Blogging and Social Media Strategies’ with MediaBistro.com. She also consults with hotels and travel companies on their social media campaigns. With a background in legal, economic, political, business and community reporting, Melanie brings a diverse and unique knowledge base to her travel stories and published articles.
